Graduating or transfering students and staff that will not be returning may want to take their Hope G Suite data with them. Google Takeout provides a way to create a zipped up archive file that you can download onto a person device or a USB stick so it can be loaded to a personal Google account or just saved off so that files can be restored at a later time.
Here are the steps to do this:
1. Create an archive file
First you will need to request an archive file that can be downloaded. You will specify which G Suite App data you would like included in your archive file. To do this, use Google Takeout.
To learn how to create your archive file, please refer to these instructions -> Google Takeout - Create an archive file of my Hope G Suite data
2. Download your archive file using one of the following options:
Option 1: Use your own personal device to download the backup:
Step 1: Log on to your Hope Account from your own personal computer
You want to save the data to your own personal computer, not to Hope's chromebook. You will do that by logging onto your Hope account from your own device and downloading the file from there.
If you don't know how to do that, please refer to these instructions -> Google Account - How to Log in Using a PC or MAC
Step 2: Download your archive file to your PC or MAC
When your archive file is finished, you will receive an email with a link to download the file. Check your Hope email account from your own personal computer so that the download file will be saved there, not on the Hope Lutheran chromebook, since you will not have access to the chromebook once you leave Hope Lutheran.

Option 2: Download the archive to your chromebook and copy to a USB Drive
When your archive is finished, you will receive an email with a download link. Click on the download link in the email and download the file to your chromebook. Insert a USB drive and copy the Takeout file onto your USB drive. Make sure you eject the USB drive before you remove it!!!
